Ech'O

“To light a candle is to cast a shadow.”

— Ursula K. Le Guin

Lamps have always been about light. Rather than bathing the room in light, this piece aims to put an emphasis on the aesthetic qualities of the shadows it creates.

Ech’O hangs on a blank wall. On the tap of a button, geometric shadows form, encased by a wooden ring. The diffuser, simply sitting inside the inner circumference, can easily be replaced for a new ambiance.

Handcrafted from repurposed plywood, Ech’O was designed to have the smallest footprint possible. Though diffuser options extend its life, the lamp was designed for disassembly so that all parts could be recycled separately.

Ech’O comes with a variety of pre-made diffusers to choose from for different light effects. Instructions for replacing the diffuser and measurements for making custom ones are implemented inside the user manual to increase the lamp's adaptability, and hopefully its life.
